PMD forecasts wind, thunderstorms

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast windstorm and rain-thunderstorm activity in the upper and central parts of the country from May 27 (night) to May 31, with occasional gaps.

The department stated that moist currents are continuously penetrating the upper and central regions, while a westerly wave is likely to enter the upper parts of the country on May 28, triggering widespread weather activity.

Under the influence of this weather system, windstorms and rain-thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms are expected in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Lahore, Faisalabad, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh.

According to the Met Office, the temperature in Islamabad was recorded at 18 °C on Sunday morning. The temperature in Lahore was 24°C, Karachi 31°C, Peshawar 23°C, Quetta 24°C, Gilgit 17°C, Murree 12°C and Muzaffarabad 19°C.

On Sunday morning, the temperature in Srinagar, Pulwama, and Baramulla remained 14°C, Jammu 22°C, Leh 7°C, Anantnag, and Shopian 13°C.
