Heavy rain and storm in various cities, puts end to heatwave

(Web Desk) – In several cities across the country, including the provincial capital Lahore, heavy rain and strong winds have ended the heatwave.

In Lahore, following a severe storm, heavy rainfall caused more than 560 LESCO feeders to trip, plunging several areas of the city into darkness.

Flight Operations Suspended Due to Storm
The storm also led to a suspension of flight operations at Lahore Airport for an hour, causing delays for flights to Jeddah, Madinah, Dubai, Sharjah, and Muscat.

Accidents in Various Cities

Meanwhile, in Islamabad, heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds caused significant disruption. In Sector G-12, the roof of an under-construction house collapsed, killing two laborers and injuring two others.

Furthermore, a tree fell at the Police Headquarters, injuring an official. In Khanpur Hazara, a wall collapsed due to the storm, trapping three children under the debris. Traffic flow was also affected on the main GT Road due to a fallen tree. In Muridke, the roof of a house hosting a wedding ceremony collapsed, injuring five people, including the bride.

In Galyat, rain with thunder and lightning made the weather more pleasant. The clouds also heavily poured over the hill station of Murree. Heavy rain in areas like Talagang, Kallar Kahar, Haripur, Attock, and nearby regions also made the weather more enjoyable.

In Gujranwala, Jhelum, Chakwal, and surrounding areas, the storm followed by heavy rainfall provided relief from the heat, and the citizens were able to breathe a sigh of relief. However, the Meteorological Department has forecast more rainfall in several cities across the country.
